Curly Hair

Normal scalp, Split Ends/Damaged Hair

Curly hair is full of volume, playful and bouncy. Despite being usually voluminous, curly hair are climate dependent (humidity = frizz), and damage prone. The strand thickness can range from fine to coarse but is usually fine. The biggest issues with curly hair are dryness, frizz, shrinkage and lack of curl definition.

A normal scalp is one which neither gets too oily nor too dry and flaky. Although weather and other environmental factors may adversely affect it and sometimes you may experience oiliness during the summer months and some amount of flaking in the dry winter months.

Each hair on our body is composed of three layers – the innermost fiber called medulla, the middle layer surrounding the medulla known as the cortex and the outer layer called the cuticle that protects the hair from damage.

When the cuticle of a hair gets damaged, the hair becomes dry and loses its shine and lustre. Other signs of damaged hair may include spli ends, harsh or brittle texture, and breakage.

Curly hair with a normal scalp prone to damage or split ends requires nourishing the scalp using a lubricating, damage-repair Egg-Mayo Conditioner. This is followed by a gentle Shikakai Shampoo for effective cleansing and then a healthful Raspberry Serum. Fuller's Earth Mask helps remove impurities from the hair while Hot Oil Deep Conditioner ensures the rebalancing of the valuable nutrients.

Nourishing the scalp using a lubricating, damage-repair conditioner is integral to this regimen. This is followed by a gentle herbal shampoo for effective cleansing.

Step One: Once a week use the Egg-Mayo Conditioner to provide much needed nourishment to your hair. Apply the conditioner to wet hair, lather it on hair from root to tip. Wear a shower cap and let it dry for 40 minutes. Wash off really well with normal or lukewarm water. Follow with the gentle Shikakai Shampoo.

Step Two: Cleanse with the Shikakai Shampoo once a week. Wash your hair with the shampoo. Shampoo will not lather like the regular surfactant based shampoos, but it will cleanse the hair well. To completely remove the oil from the hair, use this shampoo twice.
